Meet the Business and Technical Staff

KUOW's business offices include senior staff, administration and finance, development, operations and engineering, and website development. These departments provide an important infrastructure that allows program and newsroom staff to focus solely on creating quality public radio programming.

Administration and Finance is responsible for the daily operations of the station, from welcoming guests to the station, to hiring new staff, and keeping a watchful eye on KUOW's finances.

Development and Marketing is three departments in one: Membership, Major Gifts and Grants, and Underwriting. Each is responsible for raising the funds that ensure KUOW’s programs and services remain available each year.

  • Membership staff raises support through KUOW’s direct mail program, biannual pledge drives, the quarterly newsletter, The Listening Post, and more. This group also coordinates the station's "In the Community" and "Day Sponsorship" programs.
  • Major Gifts and Grants staff works with Broadcasters Circle members, foundations and corporations to raise support for KUOW through individual gifts, grant awards, stock gifts, bequests and more.
  • Underwriting staff promotes support from local businesses and corporations. The traffic manager schedules all on-air messages including underwriting, community and day sponsorships, and other non-program related spots.

Operations and Engineering keeps KUOW on the air with technical experts that install, maintain and repair the station's critical broadcast equipment, computer systems and multiple networks. This group is also responsible for the broadcast center facility.

Website Development creates everything you see on KUOW’s website, kuow.org. In addition to posting daily stories, this group researches and implements new tools to improve the site's resources for producers, reporters and listeners.
