About Katy Mullen:
Katy Mullen is a proud Seattle native. At age 12, Ms. Mullen got her first paying job — a Seattle Times paper route — which showed her how important news is to her community and that advertising means hours of stuffing inserts at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings (not fun!).
In 2001, Ms. Mullen graduated from Western Washington University with a B.A. in journalism with hopes of doing public relations work in the public or non–profit sectors. After several years of working in the food service industry, a year and half at U.W. Educational Outreach, and part–time and volunteer work at local nonprofits (One Reel, KCTS and KEXP), Ms. Mullen landed a full–time gig at KUOW in October, 2006.
As the membership program coordinator, Ms. Mullen organizes the biannual pledge drives, including logistics, volunteers, food donations and premiums. She also manages KUOW's media sponsorship program, which provides on–air recognition and support to nonprofit events throughout the Puget Sound.
In her free time Ms. Mullen enjoys playing soccer, crafting, outdoor activities, going to music and arts shows around town, and learning new things.
