The Pros And Cons Of Home And Hospital Births
According to a 2012 study by the CDC, Washington had the seventh highest rate of home births in the country. Overall, home births have been on the rise since 2004. But as of 2009 they still represented less than 1 percent of total births in the United States.
Maybe you’ve thought about giving birth at home or at a birth center. Or maybe you’re weighing your options and you feel safer giving birth in a hospital. Ross Reynolds discusses both options with Valerie Sasson, the president of the Midwives Association of Washington State, and Dr. Joy Zia, an expert in obstetrics and gynecology at Swedish’s OB/GYN center in Ballard.
