Seattle - the Emerald City. Seattle boasts the Olympic National Forest to its west and the Cascade Mountain Range to its east. Inside its borders, the Emerald City is turning concrete gray. The city has lost two-thirds of its tree cover over the last three decades due to development. The trees that still stand struggle with invasive ivy and inconsistent care. As the mayor backs city growth, will urban density hurt what makes us green?
