Ross Reynolds
08/29/2007 at 1:00 p.m.

This weekend in Seattle there will be conference called Gender Odyssey. It's for transgendered people, and what are described as gender variant people. I'm Ross Reynolds and in this hour of The Conversation we'll find out more about what these terms mean. We'll speak to an 18 year who was born a girl but recently changed the gender on his driver's license to male. His mother will join us too. Also with us will be Aidan Key, the organizer of the Gender Odyssey Conference. Aidan was born a girl. He has an identical twin sister who is still a heterosexual woman. And we'll speak to Stephanie Brill, co–founder of Gender Spectrum, an organization which offers training in gender identity for for schools and hospitals. Stephanie runs a support group for parents with gender variant kids. Come with your stories and questions.

Guests:

Aidan Key is the organizer of the Gender Odyssey Conference. The conference is in its fifth year and is expected to draw over 500 attendees this year. Aidan was born a girl and has an identical twin sister who is still a heterosexual woman.
