Can the U.S. Live with a Nuclear Iran?

10/22/2007 at 9:00 a.m.

Dr. Helen Caldicott defined the style of the Reagan era as paranoid, haunted by the threat of a nuclear war. Has the nuclear threat decreased? Dr. Caldicott joins us today to talk about her continuing concerns about nukes and proliferation. We also get a different take from an MIT professor who is a lot less concerned; and thinks the U.S. can live with a nuclear Iran. Call in and share your thoughts about a nuclear weaponized future.

Guests:
Helen Caldicott is a medical doctor; an author; a peace activist; and founder of Physicians for Social Responsibility. Her recent books include, War in Heaven, Nuclear Power is not the Answer, and The New Nuclear Danger: George W. Bush's Military Industrial Complex.
Barry R. Posen is Ford International Professor of Political Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he is Director of the Security Studies Program. He's also the author of books and articles including, We Can Live with a Nuclear Iran?
