For Marcus Shelton, music has always been a way to connect to his friends and loved ones. By college, he was deep into choir and playing in a Christian rock band. But after graduation, he took a desk job — trading guitars and score sheets for staplers and spreadsheets. That is, until he came across a chance to audition for The Seattle Opera.
From our performance studio, tenor Marcus Shelton tells Dave Beck how he went from playing in a Christian rock band in college to performing The Seattle Opera's elite Young Artist's Program.
