At 2:08 p.m. – Susan Deborah King
In her newest collection, One–Breasted Woman, poet Susan Deborah King explores the reverberations of her experience with breast cancer and mastectomy. A visit to Guemes Island becomes a metaphor for the brevity our lives, and a broken eggshell holds unexpected illumination. King has been a Presbyterian minister, a psychotherapist and a writing teacher. Her previous collections are Tabernacle: Poems of an Island and Coven, which was a finalist for the Minnesota Book award. King splits her time between Minneapolis and an island in Maine.
