Chris Anderson on the Free Economy

04/10/2008 at 12:00 p.m.

Wired Magazine Editor Chris Anderson says the future of business is free. You give away the product and make your money other ways. It's not an entirely new idea. Nearly 100 years ago King Gillette gave away his razors so you'd buy his razor blades. But Anderson contends there is a new "free" because the cost of products is plunging. How do you make money when you give away your product or content?

Also today, the problem with the penny. It costs the mint 1.7 cents to make a penny. Why does the penny persist? New Yorker writer David Owen explains.

Guests:
Chris Anderson is the editor–in–chief of Wired Magazine. He's also the author of The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business is Selling Less of More.
