Crackdown on Prostitution

Ross Reynolds
06/03/2008 at 1:00 p.m.

Yesterday federal officials announced a crackdown on the Frank Colacurcio strip club empire. They expect to file racketeering charges against the notorious club owner and his organization. The basis of the charges? Allegations that prostitution was rampant at strip clubs like Rick's on Lake City Way. Does prostitution cause signicant damage to the city? Should it be illegal? Where would that leave the Frank Colacurcio's of the world? We'll hear about the history of prostitution in Seattle, once home to the largest brothel in America. Have anti–prostitution laws improved society or not? Also it's the last day of the presidential primary season. We'll learn the campaign is unfolding in Montana.

Guests:
Mercedes Yaeger currently leads "ghost tours" of the Pike Place Market. Starting July 19 she'll be launching a new "Lust Tour" of Seattle that features the history of brothels and prostitution in the city.
