Weekday

Bernd Heinrich's Summer World

Steve Scher
04/15/2009 at 10:00 a.m.

Shh! Do you hear that? It's the sound of the outside world. Biologist Bernd Heinrich asks us to listen for the buzz of wasps, the whirr of hummingbirds, the throated call of wood frogs, and all the other wonders of summertime. He explores the sights and sounds of the New England backwoods in his latest book, "Summer World: A Season of Bounty." Join us as we peek behind Nature's curtain with Bernd Heinrich on "Weekday."

Plus, a conversation on the week's news in Canada from our Canadian correspondent, Vaughn Palmer.

Guest(s)

Bernd Heinrich is professor emeritus of biology at the University of Vermont. He is a former Guggenheim fellow, Harvard fellow and von Humboldt fellow. He has written a number of books on animal behavior and personal reflections on nature. His latest book is "Summer World: A Season of Bounty."

Vaughn Palmer is a political correspondent for the Vancouver Sun.
