'New Treehouses of the World,' by Pete Nelson
New Treehouses of the World
05/08/2009 at 9:00 a.m.
Did you have a treehouse when you were a kid — or wish you did? Pete Nelson dreamed of treehouses when he was growing up in New Jersey, but didn't build his first one until much later. Now he teaches other people how to build treehouses. He also visits treehouses around the world, from Australia to Japan. Some look like Paul Bunyan's cabin, but others look like UFOs. Join us as we climb high into the trees of the Northwest and take a look around.
Plus, the weekend weather forecast with Cliff Mass.

Pete Nelson is the co–founder of the Northwest TreeHouse School in Issaquah, which teaches people how to design and build treehouses. He also co–founded TreeHouse Workshop, Inc., with Jake Jacob, to engineer structures for trees. Pete designed his first treehouse in high school, but didn't build one until years later, when an old friend sent him a how–to book. He has written four books on treehouses. His latest is "New Treehouses of the World."
Cliff Mass is an atmospheric scientist at the University of Washington.
