Julian Schwarz: Carrying on a Distinguished Musical Legacy
Dave Beck
06/02/2009
Julian Schwarz knows what he wants to be when he grows up. The 17–year–old student at Seattle's Lakeside School is about to tour as a cello soloist with the Moscow State Radio Symphony Orchestra. He plays concerts across the country and serves as the assistant conductor for the Lake Union Civic Orchestra in Seattle. Julian Schwarz is also the latest bearer of a distinguished musical legacy. His mother Jody was a professional flutist. And his father is Gerard Schwarz, music director of the Seattle Symphony. Julian Schwarz brought in three recordings that remind him why he wants to carry the family tradition forward. KXOT's Dave Beck speaks with Julian Schwarz.
