Small Businesses and Health Care Reform
06/22/2009 at 9:00 a.m.
The Obama administration's plans for health care reform all rely on employers paying for insurance. Where does this leave small business owners who often don't have the money to afford health insurance for their employees? Would a public plan option be feasible for small business owners? Or could small business owners group together to form buying cooperatives to buy into private health care plans?Guest(s)

She buys into the Washington Basic Health Plan herself and has been a leader in the Pike Place Market, organizing business owners in working for health care reform. In 2007, she led a survey project of market businesses that showed that 40 percent of people working in the market were uninsured — or four times the state average. She will be travelling to Washington, D.C., tomorrow to speak with legislators.
