The Apple iTunes Store sold over 1.5 billion applications in its first year. Developers are building competing applications for Palm, Google's Android phone, and other hand–held devices. Why are these applications so popular? Is everything in the tech industry going towards the mobile device? Who is designing all these applications? And what are some of the coolest apps out there?
