Pablo Neruda has a habit of walking through poet Kelli Russell Agodon's dreams. Agodon turns these visitations from the great Chilean writer into quirky, insightful poems. She reads some of her Neruda-inspired poems as part of the Jack Straw Reading Series. Chris Nickson is a Seattle-based music commentator for NPR's All Things Considered. He joins us to spin the discs of a few of the artists who will be featured at Bumbershoot this weekend. Chris also reflects on the growth of Bumbershoot and how it mirrors, for better and worse, the changes in the arts and culture scene in the Pacific Northwest.

Agodon turns these visitations from the great Chilean writer into quirky, insightful poems. Today on The Beat, Agodon reads some of her Neruda-inspired poems as part of the Jack Straw Reading Series, a new co-production between KUOW and Jack Straw Productions.
Kelli Russell Agodon is the author of two books of poems, Small Knots (Cherry Grove Collections) and Geography (Floating Bridge Press).
