The Tallboys
The Tallboys were first brought together by their shared love of Old Time and early Bluegrass music. Feeling the draw from the deepest depths of Southern Fiddle style and Mountain songs they aspire to explore this American tradition and bring it to the ears of today’s listeners ever hungry for the sounds of Old Time music. Their repertoire includes many old fiddle tunes and songs that were first sung and played 80, 100, or even 200 years ago, but they also write new songs that come alive within the Old Time and Bluegrass tradition. The Tallboys perform live in the KUOW studios and talk with Megan Sukys about finding a future in the past.

Paul Schiavo/Patriot Act
The tunes will be familiar but titles like "Right Wing Texas Cowboy", "The George Bush Blues", and "Tenet, Don't Lose That Number" may be new to you. They are part of the repertoire of musical satire from Patriot Act. The group first mobilized to protest the government’s decision to invade Iraq and to voice disapproval of a divisive piece of legislation. A clue as to which legislative act is found in the group's name. Patriot Act has performed at clubs, political rallies, fund-raising events and music festivals around the state of Washington, and plans to get out and play as often as possible during this important election year. Band members share some of their satricial tunes and speak with Dave Beck about the current climate for musical satire.
