Watching the Vote Counters

Steve Scher
11/02/2004 at 9:00 a.m.

It's Election Day. Voters are out punching cards, filling in bubbles, touching screens and dropping ballots in the mail. At the same time, partisan lawyers are monitoring polls and government officials are collecting ballots and counting them. How is the voting process going today? Are lines long? Are people casting provisional ballots? Are individual voter registrations being challenged? Are complaints and legal challenges being filed. We'll talk with people watching the polls and you - the voters on this hour of Weekday.

Guests:
Stephen Elliott author of Looking Forward to It, from the polls in Broward County, Florida
Mark Eddy Fair Vote Colorado
Dean Logan director of King County Elections
Joaquin Avila professor of law at Seattle University
Pam Smith Verified Voting Foundation
Dan Trevas communications director, Ohio Democratic Party
Scott Hogenson Republican National Committee
