Weekday

Iraqi Statehood

Steve Scher
08/16/2005 at 10:00 a.m.

The expected draft of Iraq's constitution raises many questions. What will Iraq look like as a country in the future? What rights will women gain or lose? How will the vast differences that divide Iraq's Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds be addressed? Was the draft of the constitution rushed? How did the United States and the insurgency affect the process? Were any groups left out of the process? What's in the constitution and how will Iraq fare in the months ahead? We take up the Iraq constitution and the issues of Iraqi statehood this hour on Weekday.

Guests:
Wayne White is the former Deputy Director of the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research's Office of Analysis for the Near East and South Asia.
