As the vaccine mandate deadline looms, the Seattle Police Department says 354 sworn officers have not yet submitted proof of vaccination, accounting for 33% of officers.
According to data published by the department today, 38% of all police operations staff have not submitted proof of vaccination against Covid-19.
By contrast, 19 percent of eligible King County residents have not completed their vaccine series as of Oct. 4, according to Public Health Seattle & King County.
In August, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan announced all city employees would be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by October 18. It's now too late for city employees to meet the vaccination deadline with the two-dose Moderna or Pfizer vaccines, but employees could meet the deadline with the single-dose Johnson & Johnson shot.
