Postcards From a Pandemic
On March 11, we’ll mark two years since the World Health Organization declared a global pandemic. We want to know:
What’s one moment you want to remember? Or pass on to the world?
KUOW is collecting "audio postcards" from our community to commemorate two years of living with Covid-19. Share a moment from the last two years you want to remember or pass along, and we may play it on KUOW. It could be a moment that made you laugh or cry, or something that gave you comfort or a boost. Maybe it's art that sprang up in your neighborhood, or a new way you connected with friends, or a moment that tested your limits.
Big or small, what's something that's stood out that you want to hold on to? Or a moment that changed you? Think of it like a snapshot in time or something to throw into a time capsule for the next generation. Or think of it the Marie Kondo way – if it sparks joy, it’s a keeper.
SEND YOUR AUDIO POSTCARD
- Use the voice memo app on your phone or tablet to record (iPhone instructions //Android instructions)
- Hold the phone to your ear (not in front of your mouth) like a normal phone call.
- Start with your first name and your neighborhood or city.
- Please keep your recording to less than two minutes.
- Send your voice memo to Zaki Hamid (zhamid@kuow.org), our director of community engagement.
- If have a photo to go with your postcard, please send it!
- Don't worry about getting it perfect. We'll edit your recording for length, clarity and any bloopers.
Last tip: Get creative with the sound you send. Take us to that special neighborhood spot, or play that song that got you out of bed for a while, or the sound that captures something different in your life now. After you're done speaking, just let the recording run an extra minute to pick up the sounds around you. We'll mix it in later.
Disclaimer: By submitting a recording, you give KUOW permission to share it via live broadcast, email and/or the station's social media channels.
