Bill Radke speaks to Jamie Susskind about his new book, "Future Politics: Living Together in a World Transformed By Tech."

Susskind's book looks at how 21st century technology is changing who has power and how they wield that power. He also asks, how might we as a society, demand big tech companies use their power to benefit citizens?

With the increasing power and ubiquity of algorithms, says political theorist Jamie Susskind, software engineers are effectively social engineers. His new book, Future Politics, explores how technology is changing who has power, how they wield it, and how we as average citizens must hold them to account.

Susskind speaks about hidden algorithms, the rise of fake news, and regulations on technology, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe. He also says people must look at technology not just as consumers, but as citizens, and ask themselves, what are the consequences of this technology?
