KUOW Announces New Programming Changes

In an effort to best serve KUOW’s audience and allow listeners to navigate the broadcast day more effectively, KUOW announces programming changes to its broadcast services. These changes will affect KUOW 94.9 FM Seattle, 90.3 FM KQOW in Bellingham, KUOW2 90.7 Bellingham, 1340 AM in Olympia, and KUOW and KUOW2 online and HD services.

The majority of the changes see existing shows moving to new slots on their current broadcast channel or moving across KUOW 94.9 and KUOW2. A few shows have been removed from KUOW2 to make room for new programming.

A detailed list of the changes are below and KUOW's online schedule reflects the new schedule starting January 26. Printable schedules are also available (PDF): KUOW | KUOW2.

All KUOW programming will continue to be available for online streaming. Please try KUOW’s new app and listen to KUOW and KUOW2 on your mobile device.

"KUOW regularly evaluates its programming and makes changes that are listener driven," said KUOW's director of programming, Jeff Hansen. “The current programming changes offer our listeners reliability by coupling similar programs together, providing consistency and continuity to the broadcast schedule."

"These changes are the result of a very thorough analysis of KUOW's programming and reflect the way our audience is listening to the station," said KUOW president and general manager, Caryn G. Mathes. "It is our responsibility to strive to meet audience expectations as they continue to develop and grow.”

Listeners are encouraged to submit feedback on these programming changes to programming@kuow.org

The mission of KUOW is to create and serve an informed public, one challenged and invigorated by an understanding and appreciation of events, ideas and cultures. The station is licensed to the University of Washington, which is assisted in its operation and management by KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio, a private, nonprofit corporation established in 1999 and governed by a community board.
