This week, Seattle started defunding the police. The city council overrode the mayor and moved forward with cuts to the Seattle Police Department, and investments in some non-policing solutions. So where do they go from here?

Plus, Seattle police faced another test. A Kentucky grand jury decided not to charge the police officers who shot and killed Breonna Taylor. Seattleites took to the streets, mostly peacefully, but some smashed windows and parking meters and threw bottles. How did the police do with responding to these latest protests?

Also, Seattle news organizations, and national ones, have been shrinking. Could independent journalism be the way of the future?

Additionally, Tacoma public schools have been considering sending kindergarten and special education students back into the classroom. How soon could they be back?

Finally, on Wednesday President Trump said he would not commit to a peaceful transfer of power. What could that look like, and what would it mean for US politics?
