There are those that have been expecting big changes for a neighborhood in Queens, New York called Long Island City.
It’s got aging infrastructure, sure, but also subways and water transportation. It seemed destined for something.
But when Amazon announced it was moving in, many of the residents didn’t see it as a noble knight riding in on a shiny, two-day delivery truck. Rather, there’s concerns it’s a conquering king riding high off a sweetheart deal with the city, set to overtake the character of the neighborhood.
