Photos! A big mood night of fat fashion in Seattle

Crowds gathered at the Museum of History and Industry Wednesday evening for "Big Mood: A Night of Fat Fashion."

“For me, tonight, it’s about representation,” said Kim Selling, who curated the event along with Adria Garcia. “You don’t see fat people in fashion, we just aren’t represented. We aren’t given a chance and we are othered constantly in every situation.”

The first of its kind event included a pop-up market, clothing designers, several vendors, a fashion show and live performances by artist Guayaba.

"For Adria and me, what we try to do both at Indian Summer and with our events, is to make space for especially queer fat people, but fat people of all kinds, sizes, shapes, gender presentations," Selling said.

"We don’t care what you are, we want you to be here and be with us and feel good about yourself."

"I’m in a room full of people I love who are all here to hold this energy together and to see each other fully and to be together and that’s what matters to me."
