Your Seattle-area weekend culture picks: Feb. 15

After more than a week of snow, it's time to trade your sleds for a little culture. Here are a few suggestions.
Friday, Feb. 15:
- The Village Theatre in Issaquah opens a one-week run of a new musical-in-development, part of its Beta Series. They describe “The Passage” by David Darrow as a cross between “Stranger Things” and “Pan’s Labyrinth” — with music. This is an opportunity to catch the first staged production of this new musical. The show is up through February 24th.
- The two-night Everett Film Festival opens at the Everett Center for the Performing Arts. The Fest started life as the Everett Women’s Film Festival. Although organizers have widened their scope, the focus is still movies by or about women and the female experience. The Festival runs through Saturday February 16th.
Saturday, Feb. 16:
- The Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience is currently presenting “Wham! Bam! Pow! Cartoons, Turbans, and Confronting Hate,” featuring the work of New York-based cartoonist Vishavjit Singh. He uses art and humor to challenge stereotypes.
