King County needs to build more housing. A lot more housing. The latest estimate from the state is 309,000 new places to live by 2044.

Seattle Times Real Estate reporter Heidi Groover says that number is going to require some serious problem solving, especially when it comes to affordable housing.

Editor's Note: This episode has been updated to correct the number of new housing units needed in King County over the next 20 years, according to county projections. The correct number is 309,000 units of housing.
