    Meet KUOW's summer 2022 RadioActive youth producers

    KUOW's RadioActive Youth Media is proud to offer our 19th annual summer introductory workshop for teens. In our first hybrid in-person and virtual workshop, seventeen teens, aged 15-18, spent one week learning about radio journalism and audio storytelling.

    KUOW's RadioActive Youth Media is proud to offer our Advanced Radio Journalism Workshop. Twelve graduates of our Intro to Radio Journalism Workshop are spending the spring with KUOW, and gaining advanced communications, audio production, and journalism skills.

    KUOW's RadioActive Youth Media is proud to offer our 18th annual summer introductory workshop for teens. In our second all-virtual workshop, fifteen teens, aged 15-18, will spend four weeks learning about radio journalism and audio storytelling.

    'They can never lock your mind up.' Three stories from juvenile jail

    Seven teens joined RadioActive for a two-day virtual podcasting workshop at the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center in Seattle's Squire Park neighborhood. The teens produced three audio stories about their experiences with incarceration.

    SNAPSHOTS is a look back at ten years of stories by Washington teens. Each week, hosts Ardo Hersi and Mimansa Dogra revisit a story from the RadioActive archives. They share updates from the producers, and discuss what has changed — and what hasn't — since the story was first published.

    RadioActive's 2020 through stories and photos by teens

    Even though we couldn't meet in person for most of the year, RadioActive Youth Media still worked with about 300 young people in 2020 - creating 29 original radio stories, podcasts, and photojournalism essays. If you missed any of these incredible perspectives from young people, catch up here.

    Teens in the Seattle area have been balancing the grief, loss, and uncertainty of 2020 with the ups and downs of high school. And that's what this hour of youth radio is all about. Join hosts Adar Abdi and Ruby Lee as they showcase 13 stories produced by teens during the pandemic. You'll hear from a teen musician in recovery from drug addiction and a high schooler who made the move from South Africa to SeaTac. All from RadioActive Youth Media.
